How important is it to get your logo right from the start?

In my opinion, it’s the single most important part of any company’s visual profile.

A logo is  so much more than something that just looks good on a business card. It should reflect the values and ethics of your business and represent the services and standards of what your company provides.

A ‘brand’ is a complete identity, a visual style that determines how your overall marketing will look and what it communicates to it’s customers. It’s not just larger organisations that need to get this right either, I feel a business of any size should ensure there logo is of the highest professional standard.

I wouldn’t dream of going to a business meeting in dirty, creased attire, what impression of myself and my business would that leave? So, why do so many people leave poorly designed business cards and sales literature, that’s often been poorly printed, in the hands of a new customer? When they pick that back up, do they look at it and think wow, I remember how impressive these guys were, or do they leaf through it with a deflated impression of what appeared to be so promising on your face to face encounter.

Maybe it’s because i’m a designer and I see the details that others may not, but a little extra care and attention can go a long way.
